This officer service jacket was worn by Major General Joseph Lawton Collins, chief commander of the VII US Corps, in charge of the assault on Utah Beach on June 6 1944. The jacket has on the left side of its chest the ribbons of the main american and foreign military decorations that General Collins liked to wear. The 48 star US flag followed him during his whole military career.
