The M2 helmet is characterized by its tack-welded semicircular wire, specifically developed in 1942 for the american paratroopers. Only 148 000 of these helmets were manufactured. This model, with its Saint-Clair liner, belonged to a Lieutenant from the 1/505th PIR, 82nd Airborne. Remaining of camouflage from the operations in Sicily and Italy can be seen on the hull. Some markings like the grade and the “Jack O’Diamonds” insigna are still visible and were repainted in black for Normandy.
