Torch of freedom
This torch was awarded to the Mayor of Sainte-Mère-Eglise on June 6th, 1954, during the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the Liveration by the American president Dwight Eisenhower. The torch, a symbol of Liberty Road, was temporarily given to the City of Bastogne, Belgium, until it could definitely take its place in 1964 in the Airborne Museum.
