101st Airborne Division

One of the first two American airborne divisions created during World War II. Like the 82nd Airborne Division, it was formed on August 15, 1942. Its members are known as the “Screaming Eagles” in reference to the division's iconic patch.

The 101st, along with the 82nd Airborne Division, were the only two airborne divisions deployed during the Normandy landings in June 1944.

The 101st Airborne Division has many remarkable military achievements to its credit, from the exploits made famous by the Band of Brothers series about Easy Company, the 2nd Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 506th PIR in Normandy, to the bravery of the division's soldiers during the siege of Bastogne.
