School workshops

The Airborne Museum offers two educational workshops for school groups, each designed for specific age groups. They are available by reservation and can be combined with self-guided or guided tours of the museum.

School workshop n°1: 39-45 The Quiz

Test your students’ knowledge with the museum’s new educational workshop, which will see them compete in teams in a board game called “39-45: The Quiz.” More than a hundred cards and questions cover a wide range of topics related to World War II. From D-Day to the Holocaust, via the Pacific War, the Eastern Front, and lesser-known events, it’s the ideal way to consolidate what they’ve learned and have fun at the same time!

Maximum capacity: 25 students per workshop. For groups of more than 25 students, the group will be divided into two and each half will alternate between visiting the museum and attending the workshop.

Six teams of four students will have to compete to win the game.

Duration:

  • Workshop only: 1h30.
  • Guided tour + workshop3h.

Two difficulty levels: middle school and high school.

Rates:

  • Self guided tour + workshop: 8,50€ / child
  • Guided tour + workshop: 11,50€ / child

School workshop n°2: The suitcases of the past

Atelier scolaire "A la decouverte des valises du passé" sur l'Occupation de l'Airborne Museum

This workshop, led by us but also requiring the presence of one or ideally two teachers or chaperones, is combined with a visit (self-guided or guided) to the museum: the group is divided into two, with one half going on the visit while the other participates in the workshop, then the roles are reversed.

Procedure:

In the first phase (15 minutes), students are divided into two groups of 10-12 (or 20-24), and each group is given a suitcase containing 10-12 numbered objects. Each student or pair chooses an object and must try to determine its nature, its use, and the context in which it existed, all with the assistance of their teacher.

The second phase is the sharing phase. In turn, and in ascending order of object numbers, the students/pairs are invited to speak in front of the rest of the class to share their assumptions. The two students with object no. 1 begin in turn, followed by those with object no. 2, and so on. During this phase, the museum mediator will correct or add to the students’ assumptions. The aim is to transport them to a completely different era, that of the German Occupation, and to encourage them to use their imagination and empathy.

This program is specially designed for elementary school and early middle school children.

Duration:

  • Workshop only: 1h30.
  • Guided tour + workshop3h.

Rates:

  • Self guided tour + workshop: 8,50€ / child
  • Guided tour + workshop: 11,50€ / child
