Photo Criquet

© Airborne Museum

The cricket used by the american paratroopers of the 101st Airborne in Normandy. It was made by the ACME Company in England. It has a rectangular shape, and is mainly made of brass, with a steel plate working like a spring. It emits a “click” when the plate is pressed, then a “clack” when it is released. The cricket was intended to help the scattered paratroopers identify each other at night.
