CAMP GERONIMO 2023

The Camp Geronimo, organized by the Airborne Museum, will be held this year from June 03 to 06, 2023 inclusive, and will be open from 9am to 10pm. Here is the detailed program, to which are added the various events organized by the museum or in which it participates.

Camp Geronimo will have as usual many participants and daily animations, including:

  • The presence of 7 tanks from an armored platoon Cavalry US
  • The presence of a communication center and a refueling area
  • The projection of archive films in a tent
  • A Post Exchange (replica of a small store of supplies for soldiers)
  • A medical evacuation post
  • A sandtable (a vast table reproducing the topographical specificities of the area, allowing to explain the various strategies implemented according to the landscapes) commented by a specialist
  • The reproduction of an American dormitory
  • Workshops of all kinds led by specialists

7:15pm: Conference by Gérard de Cortanze: “Louis XVI, le roi qui voulait voir la mer”, as part of the Salon du Livre, at the Airborne Museum.

  • 9am: Opening of the Camp Geronimo 2023.
  • 10-11am: Commented demonstration (in French and English) of the preparations for the departure from England (planes, pilots…) on the church square.
  • 13-15pm: Book signing of the book “Gavin at War” by his daughter Chloe Gavin in the Airborne Museum store.
  • The Airborne Museum will remain open at night until 10 pm.

  • 10-11am: Commented demonstration (in French and English) of the preparations for the departure from England (planes, pilots…) on the church square.
  • 10-12am: Exhibition of vehicles on the square around the church.
  • 6pm: Parade of vintage military vehicles preceded by a small unit including two horses displaying the flags of the 82nd and 101st, and a foot group of American paratroopers.

  • 10-11am: Commented demonstration (in French and English) of D-Day combat jumps, on the church square.
  • 4pm: Book signing by Clément Horvath, author of 3 books including the 2 volumes of “Till Victory”, which compile letters from the front by allied soldiers, in the Airborne Museum store.
  • 8pm: Screening of the documentary film “Till the Job is Done” (which follows the footsteps of Captain Otis Hewett of the 4th Infantry Division, from Utah Beach to the dark forest of Hürtgen in Germany, where he will be wounded), by Clément Horvath.
  • 11:15pm: Commented demonstration (in French and English) of the use of a searchlight on the church square.
